i heard from guitar affair that the model costs from 3-5K depending on upgrades. My desire to own one went out the window from that point on.
and that doesn't seem very, very fair to me. What did he tell you the price was?
Well, I didn't speak with anyone. But I did look it up on their website. It's $300 for a week's rental. They show the guitar lists for $5K, but their price is $2999. If you look at the XOX site and do the Euro to Dollar conversion, $3K is a really good bargain. While I haven't played one, I've been in touch with Peter Solomon, and from everything that I've heard, these are awesome.
It's not the ultimate CF guitar for me though. I detailed exactly what I want, in around a $2K guitar in the CA Electric thread. The first CE branded electric probably won't make it to my stable because it lacks vital (to me) components (mainly the trem!). I'm really looking forward to hearing reviews of this guitar though, and hoping that it's successful enough for Composite Electrics to add models to the line. ;)
Right now, the closest thing to what I want that can be gotten is a Jon Bondy Steinberger style - a hardtail version is around 2K. Actually, what I want is a Steinberger GL - I'd take a GL-2, GL-4, or GL-7, and I'd prefer the TransTrem version. If the economy keeps on tanking, these may actually be in the highest end of my price range eventually. Of course, by then the highest end of my price range will probably be free...
I'll stick with $800 for a CE. :)
XoX handles are a incredible guitar... I am lucky enough to have a custom model.... I can make the guitar pull any sound I want from single coil to full on Paul Balls... mine has a blend knob for the pickups, wich are dimarzo's by the way, the stock tuners are Planet Waves locking autotrimmers, which rule.. the guitar never goes out of tune for me... as for needing a trem... they do offer a model with a tremelo, and a baritone one tuned B to B, a Duo acoustic model, matter of fact, they will do just about anything you ask.. I even heard of someone having a pick guard made for theirs!!!...if anyone is close to New Mexico I invite you to come to my store or even home and try the Handle.. I promise that you will want one after you play one... the neck is beyond wonderful.... if you have any questiions at all, feel free to contact Peter himself.. or myself, my email is
.. there are some wonderful youtube videos of the handle... the best I believe are of Mr. Enrico Santacatterina..if you want to see what the handle is capable of, then check out any of his videos.... thank you and God Bless.. Michael G.. proud Handle owner
Welcome michael g... glad you have a handle on it... looks very cool indeed.
I'll have my "Vibro" model in 2-3 weeks. I'm PSYCHED!!!
Lucky dog! Please keep us informed, we want all the details!
Me too! There is a shop called Guitar Affair (www.guitaraffair.com) that can rent these out - I haven't inquired into the price, because I really don't want to want one right now.
edit - I followed my own link to Guitar Affair to make sure it works right. That lead to lookoing this up. Now I'm going to lose sleep. The weekly rental is out of my grasp, but the purchase price is very, very fair. Damned economy...
And no matter what Ed Roman calls them (he has dubbed it the Skelletron ::)) The Handle fits perfectly.
