Here is a little recording of an X30 7 string by Jerry Haupa
Enjoy
You guys are quick!!!!!!
Wow, that's beautiful.
Do you know if that was recorded with a mic in front of the guitar, or through the pick ups?
Same: beautiful--mic or pick up?
hey guys, this is jerry, the guy who made the sample. it was recorded just with a mic. before i had an emerald, i played on the ibanez 7 string artwood acoustic, and i haven't touched that guitar since. the emerald is far, far superior in every way. here is a video of me playing it-

the audio for this video, even though i play the emerald here, is from the ibanez, and you can tell just by comparing the sample and the mastered recording that even though the sample was one take, unmixed, and only recorded with a mic, the tone KILLS the ibanez. anyway, thanks for the kind words. i hope to see other players get on board with emerald 7s, because i don't know what i'd do without mine now.

Wow, glad to hear that the Emerald compares so well!!
Cool video by the way... you guys have an interesting sound.
So the other guy is playing a rainsong?
have you tried the rainsong and the emerald side by side? i'm really interested on differences!! (sound, volume, playability...)
i'm actually on a project to convert a rainsong 12-string into a 8-string...
one question... which nut width does your x-30 have?
the rainsong isn't part of the audio in the video. i havent spent a lot of time playing his (need that 7th string!) but the basic comparisons ive made are that the rainsong has a brighter tone unplugged, although it doesn't have a lot of depth to it and doesn't carry like the emerald does. it's a pricy instrument, and the finish is gorgeous (much like mine) but it feels really light and that gives it the illusion of fragility, whereas the emerald just feels like a tank. he also runs a sunrise pickup in it so its really difficult to tell the natural tone of the instrument, since that pickup, as great as it is, can kind of homogenize guitar tone. i have a KnK pickup in mine, and it is one of the best on the market at picking up the natural tone of the instrument, and it sounds much like the mic tone in the sample, but of course eq'ed to my liking. the rainsong is a killer guitar don't get me wrong, but he is quite jealous of my 7 string emerald, and i couldnt be happier. as for the nut width, i would have to measure (i bought it used) but im sure its the standard x30 7 string nut width.
thanks for the questions!
thanks so much for the answers! i loved both versions (solo and video)! i'm also really into progressive so it was fresh air to my ears
i agree with your thoughts on the sunrise. i sound great on a cheap guitar or in a gorgeous one, only affected by the strings.
as for the nut width: i ask you because i'd like to get a x30-7string and put an extra lower string, as i have in my novax, but i'm afraid there is no enough room for it
Awesome,
I edited this and placed it in the x30 section of the catalog so it will show up on any x30 product page...
