When I designed the X5 I knew it was going to be a unique little guitar with a unique voice.
There is no such thing as the perfect guitar but the right guitar in the right hands can create magic. Today I was sent this video and to me it shows exactly what the X5 can do. I hope you like it.

To be cynical about it. . . .you are hearing the pickup and the amp.  It does sound good and if that's how you are using it, go for it.  I'd like to hear it miked for comparison.  Alstair, please please please think about making a deep body small guitar. :)

Dave

You are quite right about the X5 being two different guitars when played plugged or unplugged. Alistair I believe has hinted that the X5 is in the que for change but probably not until next year. What those changes will be when they in fact show up have yet to be revealed. We also, at least I dont know what the mysterious X7 will turn out to be. The number (7) positions it between the X5 and X10 which could indicate a small body guitar  that could be your answer. All in all I would say he is listening and has whole of going on for a company that is small but growing.

Let me encourage you to share your ideas with Emerald and trust Alistair to incorporate the best recommendations as he moves forward. I have been impressed by how much he is listening.

I for one e interested to see what the improvement would be to the X5 with the addition of a curved top. That was the top he unveiled in the new model X10. That alone could be a huge change in volume and tone. There has little discussion of what that adds to the capabilities of the instrument which has kind of surprised me, I know there are a couple of people on the forum that have the new model X10.
