I'm seriously considering pulling the trigger on one of these.

Now imagine yourself with a few friends, sitting in a dark room, with some psychedelic lighting effects, and a dooby, playing some trance inducing, sitar-like music. Don't know about you guys, but it sounds like fun to me!

Why don't you just buy some paperclips?
That is cool. . . Amazing tone. . . I've always wanted a sitar, but didn't want to learn a new instrument.
My thoughts exactly!

Haha, yes, the poor man's sitar! However, i can totally see this instrument as more than just a novelty. I wouldn't use it just for trying to get the sitar sound in "Paint it Black" by The Rolling Stones, or to imitate a couple of Beatles songs. I don't really do that stuff anyways. Playing other people's work doesn't give me much satisfaction. That being said, i'm envisioning a whole new band/project based around the sounds of this guitar. Now that would get me off! I'm at a point where the sound of the guitar is getting a little stagnant, and i need something new to help coax my inner creativity out from wherever it is hiding.

There's always the more affordable version:

Thanks Brian, i have actually been exploring the options for a while now. I've heard some good and bad things about the Rogue. Many reviews cite that the Rogue is more or less a toy than an instrument, with its shoddy build quality and intonation issues. Many would think the Rogue is the smartest choice because of the price, meaning the cost for experimentation would be low, but i think this instrument will serve me beyond being just a novelty. So i opted for the American made, Jerry Jones Supreme Sitar instead: http://www.jerryjonesguitars.com/Supreme_sitar.htm. And no, haha, i didn't pay the price listed (much less actually!). I look forward to getting it and letting you guys know what i think. Possibly shooting some youtubes as well.

So i got my Jerry Jones sitar the other day, and let me tell ya, it's my new favorite instrument. I'll post some pics and give a little review sometime in the near future. You guys are going to want one!
