On June 11 I'll be playing at MacNichol Guitar ~ Mandolin and I'd wanted to find a way to mic the guitar I'll be using for a more natural sound. But the stage is too small for two mic stands.
So I went out and bougt one of these last night:

Very nice, well made unit (K&M is good stuff).
Neat. Are the green things chairs?
What a great rig for the singer with an acoustic guitar.
Neat. Are the green things chairs?
Yup. Although most folks either sit on the floor or on mini-folding chairs.
So, if I get a mini-mic, and a mini-stand, and mini-amp, I can also get mini-chairs? I like it.

I'm thinking that I need to make a duplicate 6' x 3' removable riser the same height as the current riser, so that the second mic isn't at floor level...

That would be REALLY handy... I might have to invest in one of those. I'm always trying to work with two stands, and it's frankly a pain.
Might hae to get one of those fab green chairs too! Does Michael sell them? Free shipping? :)
I'm the type of dude that would try to play a venue like that totally unplugged and un-mic'd. But I'm also loud.

First show Michael put on in his new digs, I'm over there early in the afternoon, and we're playing guitars and singing just to try the room out for size, and we both say to ourselves "nah, amplification just isn't needed". But I bring my gear that night anyway just in case...
Holy crud. Good lesson. When that room gets filled with people, really filled, you honestly need amplification.
hehe, yeah, people really absorb sound with their soft, mushy, watery bodies.
I've really been enjoying the Emerald X30. It's beautifully made and has a sweet, big sound. If/when I get serious about a 12 string, this may well the layout and the craftsman I come calling on.
So I've developed a layout picture of Michael's shop that will allow my accomplice to burrow in while the concert is in full swing and steal the coveted Rainsong 12...
