Came across this tuning in Acoustic Guitar, June 2010 edition. Anyone used it? It was fun to muck around in, very different (for me at least)

E, down to B (yes, down!) , up to E, down to E, B, E.

A string down to B????? i use to play in extreme tunings, but this seems a bit too much for me (the low 6th would be with a higher pitch than the 5th). it is very interesting. i may try it anyway ;)

in the magazine, did it refer the tuning to the playing of somebody? i'm really curious about it. i've seen this tuning more than once, but always with the 5th tuned up to B, not down.

i have some tunes arranged in EABEBE, that is quite similar, but quite easier (and faster) to tune, which is something you really appreciate on stage ;)

You may be right there - maybe it's a typo. When I tried it I tuned the A string up.

The artist was Scott Ainslie, who uses it with a slide.

i' not really proficient with the slide, but i love this tuning for playing lots of harmonics!

Martin;  I don't know if you like Keith Richards, but in his book Life, he talks a lot about open tuning in G, and the resultant harmonics.  You're in to some interesting sounds--way beyond my level of play.  It's been a pleasure listening to you on this forum.

And tdq;  I really like the play you've shown on this forum.  Hope you can make the Mystic Springs adventure.

Wow activity in alternate tunings!

Evan - thanks for that. I've been meaning to make some more videos - some DADGAD this time - but now with the summer school holidays (here) and the impending move things are kind of nuts. Mystic springs sounds like fun, hopefully we'll all be settled in California by then and can take a nice relaxing trip. Do they do kids?

I don't know about kids.  Mike has a nice website with email and you might ask him.  Also, Buzzard W might know.  Anyway, good luck with your move and for your wife with her new job--two big steps!
