Apparently through no fault of their own TKL never went into mass production on a CA OX specific Gig Bag. They did a Test Sample and that was it. I guess CA did not go for it. I wonder who was the lucky person who got the perfect fitting sample TKL CA embroidered OX Bag for his or her CA OX? Probably Ellis...
The SKB is a nice case. I use mine for a wooden 00, since my carbon fiber always hangs on the wall. It seems as good as any case of that type.
Frankly, the CA guitars seem tougher than any cases, so I don't sweat the case too much. I carry my Cargo around in the gig bag it came with.
I also have the SKB softcase for my OX purchased in early '09. It has a firm padded liner and fits the OX snugly. It is a well made case providing more protection than the typical gigbag due to the padding. The zipper pulls seem a bit light weight compared to the sturdy zipper and may break with a lot of use. That is the only potential issue I see. It is not a flight case, but I would be confident using for car, train and carryon with no hesitation. Like the other comment, it also fits my 12 fret 00 size wooden guitar well, which gives me a nice alternative to the heavier hard case.
I have a perfect fitting OX case. It is embroidered with the SKB logo. It is the soft type case with like foam walls. These keep your guitar cooler than the plastic cases.
I would sell it if someone needs an OX case. I will send photos first with the guitar in the case if someone is interested. Let me know and we can figure out a price and shipping.
I spoke to Michael at MacNichol Guitars and he informed me that about 80% of the CA OX Guitars that he sold/shipped were with SKB Soft Cases.
How many of you use them as your everyday Case for your CA OX? Thanks!
Jeff
