I was just about to post the link to the AGF post here when I saw this thread started already.  We need to get started on the "pre-Peavey" CA Guitars (the REAL ones) so we can cash in just like the pre-CBS Fender guitar amps.  As ridiculous as it sounds to sane people, there were people who were able to seriously cash in on that nonsense with the guitar amps - so now it is time for the pre-Peavey guitar bandwagon.

Ridiculousness aside, I sincerely hope that this new venture with Peavey works out to everybody's satisfaction.

Yes I had four CA guitars in the past years (Legacy, Bluegrass, X, GX) and the only one that did not have any issue of set up was the Bluegrass. I guess that a bigger Company as Peavey could improve the quality control. On the other hand, it could also lower the quality of the product. Who knows ?

This is a good outcome.  Do us proud, Peavey.

I have read these kinds of comments about CA Guitar's quality control many times during the last year or two of their "first life", and it is unfortunate.  I was fortunate that The Podium people stayed on top of that and made sure that the CA Guitars that went to customers did not have these issues.  All three of my Cargos came from The Podium and were setup by Marty.  All three have been trouble free (could be a jingle in there...).

I do think they got it together in the last year when they started to include setup specification with the guitar.  My late 2009 Legacy was spot on.  Hope Peavey gives us some good ones.  I wonder if they will keep Composite Acoustics as the name of the line?  I think generally there is good will in the name.  Whats the history of Peavey do they kept the brands in tact or do they change them to the Peavey name.

Peavey could be the company behind the guitar that makes carbon fiber a mainstream item.  What I don't see is how they could produce some of the CA Guitars as labor intensively as apparently CA Guitars did it and stay in the price range that CA Guitars (and now Emerald) did (do).  It will be interesting to watch to see what changes they feel they might need to make to be able to make a profit (and thus stay in business).  I am standing in front of my mirror practicing my "awwww, they are not nearly as good..." lines Coolthat often seem to accompany this kind of shift in process.

Its nice to see CA coming back. Though I must say they will need to be creating something special to regain their place in carbon guitar community. They have lost some ground with the recent rise of the Blackbird, Emerald and Rainsong lines. Plus the price points from these three are extremely competitive not to mention first class quality and customer service, so it will be quite interesting to see what they do.  This is a significantly different marketplace than it was when they closed..

Nice one, John.  I agree completely (and wish I had thought of it too Innocent).  There is a lively discussion going on over at AGF right now that is really quite interesting.  It pretty much centers around Larry Pattis' talking about correct neck angles and the fact that the Cargo didn't (doesn't) have one so it is difficult, if not impossible for him to set up the action as low as he wants it.  There is a lot of interesting info in general about building guitars coming out of that.  I like my Cargos as they are, but also respect Larry's position - he is one heck of a player, that's for certain.
