I received my new RainSong H-DR1100N2 with a John Pearse Bell Brass bridge pin in the low E position and liked the sound. Through MacNichols, I got additional brass bridge pins. I ground them down so they fit the RainSong nicely, and after some experimentation found that I really like them for the low E and A.
While still fooling around with the pins, I put the newly ground pins in the low E and A on my CA OX-Raw e: Nice addition to that guitar! It actually seems (at least to my ear) to increase the bass on the OX, and there is no muddiness.
Just thought I'd share the observation,
Ray
Maybe we need a road trip for a set of Kingpins ...
A single pin is accompanying the X7 so people can hear the difference between the stock and brass pins.
We sell the pins individually, so you can purchase as few or as many as you'd like.
Michael, I'd love to buy just two for the E and A strings. Didn't see how that is possible on the website, though.
I put JP bell brass on my Rainsong HWS1000 on the low E and the high E. I think it's just the right balance - more sustain without weighing down the top too much.

Thanks, Dave. Was the difference in sustain pronounced enough for the investment?
JD,
Pronounced? Probably not. :) Your listeners won't suddenly say "Omigod what did you do to your guitar! :) But there is a difference. If you play fingerstyle, I think you'll notice it more than if you strum. If you have more than one guitar, you can split up the set among them, which is what I did. I've put brass pins on almost all my low E's. The price is not much more than a couple of sets of strings, so it's not at the Second Mortage Level of Guitar Acquisition Syndrome. . . . :)

I was just wondering what happened to all those promises in older threads to try changing bridge pins. Thanks for the report. Not sure I want to spend the money on trying them, though. Maybe we need a road trip for a set of Kingpins ...
