Alistair made a whirl wind tour of the US and dashed back to Ireland after NAMM. I thought we may get a recap of what he learned during his travels about the Emerald line of guitars. There was teaser about an X20 but things have gone silent. I can only assume he so busy making guitars and filling orders he has little time left to post on the forum.
Still, many of you had a chance to meet and talk with Alistair duing his travels in the US, so I thought it might fun if you could speculate where Emerald will go next. It will be fun for me and who knows your discussions with Alistair may be fodder for some really great rumors.
Besides the forum has been too quiet this week.
Fillin' up many orders as Unc Evy said.
you all are right. Alistair and his merry men are really busy to keep up with the orders. i'm really happy for him. that he is so busy is very good news even for all of us. it means his work is superb and his success will bring more great carbon guitars to the market.
i've even hear he didn't have holidays at all. he is working on the x20 and he is still working on the electric bass, as it seems that he has that it is still 'beta' version (maybe i'm completely wrong)
i used to exchange mails with him and during last weeks they got shorter and shorter. he is really busy. we need patience
Alistair, we are supporting you and we are crazy to hear news from you ;) best wishes! just try not to overwork too much
OK, I must have missed the memo - but what is the X20 again?
there is a thread about it. i will bring it into from. essentially due to his trip, Alistair noticed a gap between the x10 and the x30 as some customers pointed. so he is redesigning the x20 he made i think 10 years ago. essentially it is a dreadnought. he is open to hear our ideas.
the problem is that the summer is making this forum (an all of the web) go slowly and this thread was buried. i am very interested myself on an avant-garde Emerald Dread!
Perhaps they are secretly working on what could be called the X-15 ... which would be an X5 but with a deeper body (but not otherwise larger body), arched top, full length scale and toned to bring out the bass and warm up the trebles.
Alistair said here long when he was (secretly) working on the x7 that maybe the x5 will get an update in a way the x10 had, but really it seems that we should not expect it to happen anytime soon. radius top is a good idea, it would make it even more light!!! your ideas is not bad at all anyway ;)
Alistair hit the road with a number of new productions. My guess is he's busy filling orders. The X20 is on the horizon, and the X10N is a proven prototype. Alistair can go just about anywhere he wants.
