Pioche is a very old mining town, about 6,500 feet high, population 700, four bars, one of the oldest hotel/saloons in Nevada. It's about 3 1/2 hours from Vegas. I've played all the bars, but it's been a long time, and now I'm returning. I know that some of you are professionals while others of you are nervous about public play. I'm somewhere inbetween, I'm nervous, but I've set up the 16, 17, & 18 of September for play dates at the Nevada Club.
I've invited some other players to join me, if you'd like to join us, come along. The Overland Hotel has great rooms for somewhere around $70-80, the rooms are above the bar. The Nevada Club is a small bar with a great back room capable of seating somewhere around 40-50 people. A small amp and a carbon fiber guitar will get you in the door.
Just a thought.
congratulations for the gigs!!! i'm sure your X10N will shine! please record and post some videos ;)
i really really would like to attend, but it is a bit far away from here. best wishes and enjoy it!

Let me know if it looks like you can make the trip and I'll sent you the information on hotel. I think it would be neat to get together with you and play.
Evan,
Thanks so much for the invitation. My better half reminds me that my mom is coming to town and it's bad form to run and hide in no-wheres-ville Nevada. :)
Some other time.
David
David'
You can't run from mom. Mine is 93, still lives on her own, still mobil, and onery as ever. Good that you still have one. Someday we'll get together. In the meantime, going to have a good time in Pioche.
This is tangential to carbon fiber, but important to a lot of us on this forum. It's been a while since I've played out. Pioche is an old mining town, and the Nevada Club is an old mining bar. That's where I'll be playing. I haven't played out in a while, and I'm sort of sweating this one. Because I'm on a new path.
It started with carbon fiber, an Emerald X10N. And then, through this forum, I moved to a Roland AC33. And now I'm taking them on the road. You don't do a hard-core, desert, mining-town, bar, lightly. I have three sets.
I'll be playing for three nights. I've invited people from my village, and people from Pioche, but I have not idea who will show up. It might be just me. But that's ok. If you look at the side-bars on this forum, you see a lot of people who are willing to let it be, whatever it may be. Buzzard, Kramster, Jesse, tdq, swamp rat, and so forth, you're all letting it be and following the yellow brick road.
I have three sets for the Pioche gig. Three nights. When I come back, I'll start working with my new Kodak camcorder and finally offer a sample of the X10N in action. Until then, I love you!
Knock'em dead, Evan!
Have a great time.
Ray
Out of the park, Evan. :)
Any chance we can talk you into setting up that Kodak camcorder at the gig in Pioche? That way those of us who can't make it will be able to cheer you on at your gig (albeit will after the fact!) AND get to hear that one-of-a-kind Nylon wonderguitar. Sounds like a WIN/WIN to me...
i'm sure you'll do it great ;) have fun at Pioche! we all will be encouraging you from here
I've been through Pioche several times on motorcycles. 93 is a nice alternative to the big highways from Salt Lake to Vegas. I will talk with my social calendar advisor this evening about a little trip.
