Here are some pictures of some CA Guitars NAMM Show models that arrived a few days ago at MacNichol.
Is that the back and sides of the copper burst? The NAMM photos made it look like the sides were dark. I'd sure like to see more photos of this finish. I also wonder how it would look if the whole guitar were that color (instead of the burst top).
Yes, but there were two copper burst GX at NAMM. We've got the other one here, and I'll get some pictures up soon.
Here are some pictures of the Tribal Copper Burst GX.
Thanks, Michael. So both copper burst models had the copper back and sides? I would swear from the NAMM photos that the non-Tribal model had dark sides, but it easily could have been a trick of the light. I like it.
What I'm trying to decide is if it makes sense to have a burst on a guitar where the sides are the same color as the center of the burst. After all, a traditional wood guitar with a burst would usually have fairly dark rosewood or mahogany back and sides (or maybe even black) and the top would go from dark at the edges to light in the center. I suspect it looks just fine, but I'm having a hard time visualizing the impact of the overall scheme. (Or I may be missing it completely.)
Color me intrigued. If I were to order a guitar today, it probably would be the high gloss copper burst GX with Aura. I'm not ready to order today, but I suspect it won't be an awful lot longer before I am, so: mo pictures mo better.
Michael:
A beautiful bunch of guitars--are these for sale?
Just an unsolicited plug for these guitars: The finish work on the gloss guitars (the Tribal, GX Sunburst, blue X, and White Cargo) is absolutely magnificent. The entire surface is a clear coat layer, with the nude carbon adornments (purfing, logos, rosettes, artwork on the Tribal, etc) an absence of paint (so that the CF weave shows through). I don't know if this is CA's new standard or if these guitars were special production for NAMM, but they are works of art. Cool guitars, too!
I've already asked Michael about the availability of the white Cargo, but I rather suspect it is already spoken for.
I think Peavey's idea of using paint, and or the absence of it to border, to make rosettes is really a brilliant idea. High end still looks like they get pearl but this is a perfectly awesome solution for when pearl is not used. Tribal is still not my cup of tea however.
Steve
I have also asked for the white Cargo, Steve. It is spoken for.
That white Cargo is gorgeous. WOW. I bet they'll sell a few of those. I want one.
I like the blue X too. The RAW guitar up there..well. I like the RAW finish. It's not what I'd call pretty, but it serves its purpose. The look of the guitar itself is awesome though. I'm liking my Cargo RAW more and more.
