Hello, before I go on I'd like to introduce myself my name is Randy Schaffer and I am new to this forum. I've owned many solid wood acoustics in my life,( although I am really a vocalist),really barring none below $3000( obviously not all and in every price range). I came to the conclusion that I was a Martin man. I loved the tone but lacked the skills to adjust myself when my Guitar starts buzzing because of my gorrilla strokes and the slight humidity change in the room. I really thought it was a mix of my poor playing and fluctuations in the instrument. I have been desperate to find a guitar that did not sound out of tune only after minutes of play. I never heard any CF guitars in my life. I stumbled into a chance to buy a brand new CA GX gloss top Copperburst unheard. Needless to say I went through countless treads that had any relevance to this guitar...most right here. I thank all that have ever muttered a word about CA. Without your posts I would have never found the only guitar in 22 years that I can say I have bonded with...and instantly. And the workmanship is really second to none on this thing. I sold my my Martin HD28 to buy this guitar, and, have no regrets.Now...which Martin to sell.....for my next.....Again thanks everyone. And also thank you Mr. Peavey.....for keeping CA alive.
Photos! Video!
Chris: Is that a carbon fiber dog?
Photos for sure - very keen to see more of the copper burst. And well done!
Chris: Is that a carbon fiber dog?
Nope. Just black, fuzzy, and organic.
He has, however, made an appearance at MacNichol and, gladly, didn't chew on anything:
It's hard to chew when you're sleeping.
Welcome Randy.. great story.
Seeing how you've been reading around here and see stuff Evan (Unc Evy) writes...Well I hope you realize he probably means well enough.... and the fact you went carbon Fiber anyway is way cool.. just putting it out there.
Welcome to the forum and congratulations. The GX is an incredible guitar. I got the chance to try one through one of MacNichol's Road Trips and was thoroughly impressed. Its a great feeling when you're at a gig and you watch the other musicians constantly re-tuning while you remain perfectly in tune.
By the way, if you get a hankerin' to try more CF guitars, you might try one of MacNichol's Road Trips. Its a great way to try out other CF guitars. As I'm sure you are aware, they are hard to find through usual music store channels.
Also, If you feel like getting to know other CF owners even better, we are planning a meet-up in September in Park City, Utah. Watch for the meet-up planning thread for more details.
And lastly - VIDEOS, VIDEOS, VIDEOS!!!
Hey Randy, welcome and congrats! Same story with me: this forum is so genuine, informative and helpful that I bought three carbon fibre guitars last year, two of them sight unseen, guitar untouched.
Looking forward to getting a CA someday when they get their production speeded up to meet demand. I hear it's a six-month wait for a Cargo.
Welcome ... and enjoy the ride!
Ray
Randy;
Welcome to the forum. As you can read, we've all been through your amazement. And we share your enthusiasm. Thank you for letting us know how it's worked out, and I hope you'll keep us posted. We also like videos--if you make some, give us a shot.
I, too, count myself as a song writer/vocalist. I like nylon string guitars and I can't tell you how frustrating it was to deal with the constant change in temperature and moisture. You'll find that there are many Martin folks on this forum who gave up their Martins in favor of CF.
Nice to have you on board. Enjoy!
Evan
