Hello,

There will soon be some significant and interesting activity in the Carbon Fiber Guitars - Electric section.

I am wondering whether we should combine the Acoustic and Electric forums, or keep them separate. Please let me know your thoughts. Thank you.

While my interests run mainly towards acoustic guitars, I do have some interest in CF electric guitars. However, with the present layout, I rarely check the electric section. So, I guess I wouldn't mind seeing them combined. Would make it more likely that I'd be aware of anything new happening in the CF electric world.

There is a fine line between message boards that are underwhelming and overwhelming. Too little traffic and no one checks it out. Too much and topics get buried too quickly.

Personally I think the Electric board falls in the underwhelming category and the Acoustic board is about right. I think the Acoustic board could handle any extra traffic generated from combining without becoming overwhelming. There is a moderate amount of discussion of electronics in the acoustic board which blurs the separation anyway.

This makes sense to me.

I think I'd prefer separate catagories. The acoustic section is pretty busy as things stand. If there are going to be more electrics on the forum then they might over-crowd the acoustic section but nicely flesh out an electric section.

Also, I don't feel strongly either way.

I vote for combining them.

Combine. I would really like to see more videos using different pick ups on cf guitars as well as recording equipment.

Let me add a bit more.

The folks at Viktorian Guitars really like the community we've built here over the past four and a half years, and would like to start contributing heavily about what their company is doing, including Road Trips, pictures, videos, detailed information about the guitars, and, quite simply put, to join in the great times that we have here.

I pondered whether to leave the two forums separate or combine the two, but decided that this should be a group decision. As such, please post your thoughts here. I'll give this a few days and see whether a consensus emerges.

For what its worth, it looks like there were a grand total of 4 topics started in the electric section in 2012 and 3 additional topics that had been started in previous years but discussed in 2012 making a grand total of 7 topics discussed last year.

Well it seems there is general concensus--combine. CF is CF and we are all in this boat together. I retract my previous position.
