Strings for Alternate Tunings

Some companies are making strings specifically for alternate tunings. Three brands that have come highly recommended are the GHS True Mediums, the John Pearse New Mediums (710NM) and the Newtone Strings. Next week, Robin at Guitar Gallery will be posting an audio on the Shorty with Newtone strings. Now the caveat to this is that the feedback I have received has been on use with wood guitars.

Once I order my Shorty, I plan on experimenting with those strings. I would love to hear any feedback on what you have tried!!

Moved to main carbon fiber forum section

I noticed on MacNichol's website a strap called 'Dare' that looks like it might be more ergonomic than a regular strap - distributing the weight onto both shoulders. It also looks like it might be hard to get in and out of! Has anyone here tried one? I'm developing some left shoulder problems and my Cargo is quite heavy -since I like the guitar so much and I need to play standing most of the time, I'm trying to figure something out. I use a neotech strap currently.

For The Guitarist Who Has Everything...

OK, a lot of folks on this forum already have a SpiderCapo, but if you're looking for a gift for a guitarist who seemingly already has everything, then this is a good choice. And if that guitarist already has a SpiderCapo, then the new SpiderCapo Harmonik Gloves were recently introduced. Martin will soon have a video, which I'll post here. Below is the link to the Harmonik Gloves page.

Oasis Microfiber Cloth

Got to try the Oasis Microfiber Cloth the other day while polishing my guitar. I have been using no name microfiber cloths from one of the big box stores -- didn't think there was a difference, but I was wrong! The Oasis cloth has a much tighter weave/smoother finish that doesn't leave micro fibers (no pun intended) behind. I especially liked the fact that it didn't snag on the cut string ends when polishing the headstock. Well worth the money.
