Hello, all,
Crossing over from electric bass. Ended up getting a CA GX raw after reading through this forum a lot. It just arrived, and I noticed a slight hump on the top behind the bridge (attached a pic for reference). The top also appears to go concave slightly before the bridge.
Not too familiar with acoustic guitars yet. Is it normal to have a slight curve to the top? Or is this something to worry about?
Other than that, I really love this guitar. I think it's one of the last pre-peavy GXs made.
Thanks!
Hello everyone:
On occasions, the forum has messages commenting about a guitar neck or fretboard being too wide for a particular person to play comfortably, or for extended periods of time. The following example is set forth for your consideration, as a possible remedy / improvement in such circumstances. It deals with a simple change of string spacing (at the nut) and how this alteration may assist overall comfort and playability. Hope the following is of help to someone out there in forum land. So here goes:
Hello everyone:
I'm somewhat new to the MacNichol forum and have followed, very specifically, the messages regarding refretting carbon fiber guitars and the stainless frets issue.
In my opinion, these are significant factors in considering the overall topic of guitars, particularly those brands/models offering stainless frets. Playing time and performance style can dramatically affect fret wear, and stainless frets are important in that regard.
I am interested in a comparison of the general design, dimensions and overall "feel" of the neck on the CA Legacy, as opposed to the same features on the CA OX Raw.
Ideally, it would be great to have the same neck "feel" and playability when switching directly from one guitar to another.(At this point, I have a pre-Peavey Legacy (Road Tuff) purchased from Michael - but have never played the OX to date.)
Michael advised over the phone that the OX neck may have a slightly different taper than the Legacy. He suggested this question be posted on the forum to solicit input.
