The Breedlove mandolins KO body is unique in the mandolin world and instantly recognizable. The KO looks like a hybrid between the tradiational F and A mandolin body styles, containing the beginnings of a scroll and sharp cutaway often associated with F style mandolins, yet the bottom of the mandolin has the smooth teardrop-like shape of an A style. The Quartz KO’s blonde satin finish brings out the natural beauty of the KO’s solid spruce top and solid maple back and sides. The Quartz KO is also unbound and has little ornamentation, giving the mandolin a simple elegance.
The Quartz KO, like all Breedlove mandolins, provides generous string spacing, and for those like me who have thick, large fingers, will appreciate the relative ease of playing the neck. Breedloves fit into my hand quite well and I do not find myself awkwardly squeezing my hand together to form a chord. The Quartz KO has great projection and will work for just about any musical style.
Features of the Breedlove Quartz KO include a one piece maple neck, solid sitka spruce top, solid maple back and sides, x bracing, oval soundhole, twenty three frets, Tusq nut, white saga tuners, radiused ebony fingerboard with pearl dot position markers, ebony headstock overlay, and a deluxe hardshell case with a solid fit so that your mandolin is secure and not moving about within the case.

Check out an interesting blog with frequent discussions of mandolins and music at www.mandoron.wordpress.com
From the About page:
Hey there! By some stroke of luck(or perhaps divine providence) you are reading the blog of Ronnie Burgess. I’m a husband, father of two, Christ-follower, musician, wanna-be songwriter, supervisor, and probably a few other things.
As you may have guessed from the blog title, I play acoustic and electric mandolin in Edge of Grace, the worship band at GracePoint Church.
I originally hail from Oklahoma City, but I’ve lived in Wichita for 11 years now. I’ve been employeed in the general aviation industry the entire time.
I’m hoping to use this blog to inform, to inspire, to debate, and to entertain. I will do my best not to bore you.

Weber Mandolins makes some of the finest mandolins, octave mandolins, mandolas, and mandocellos on the the planet. Among Weber’s offerings is the Gallatin F model, a great looking carved top mandolin with a simple, rustic image. The Gallatin F looks as though it would be home on a rustic Montana ranch, with few adornments, a finish that reminds me of leather, and the signature Weber textured stainless steel tailpiece.

The Gallatin F works great for bluegrass and country music, particularly for lead playing with a fretboard that seems to never end. Plenty of bark (but not too much) along with a balanced tone that provides a solid bass that allows for the mids and highs to come through cleanly.
Although previously made with mahogany back and sides, the Gallatin F mandolin is now built with maple back and sides, although larger Gallatin instruments are still built with mahogany. Features of the Gallatin F mandolin include solid sitka spruce soundboard, maple back and rim, tone bar bracing, matte finish, the Weber decal and Celtic knot featured on the headstock, black bound radiused ebony fingerboard (14 inch scale), mother of pearl diamond inlay position markers, 1 1/8 inch nut width, nickel Grover tuners, dual action adjustable truss rod, Brekke adjustable ebony bridge, shaped Weber hardshell mandolin case, and a limited lifetime warranty.

Here are some pictures of a custom Breedlove Mandolin, model Quartz OF with satin blonde finish. Notice the fretboard inlay, which only has position markers at the twelfth fret.
